Get ready 2011 Ice Magic. Ice cravers will start working their magic on Friday, January 21st at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The theme this year will be Magical Madness.

Twelve teams of carvers, have a 34 hour time limit to change 15 blocks of ice into seven-foot high ice sculptures. Each block of ice weighs 300 lbs! It is amazing the transformation that takes place and something so magical is created.

On Sunday, January 23rd, the Awards Ceremony takes place and you can find out which carvings win the judges' vote and your vote, the People's Choice Award. So be sure to vote.

If you are looking for a time to take great photos of the sculptures, I recommend going late Sunday afternoon into the evening. During the evenings, the sculptures are back-lighted and you can create amazing photos.
